Introducing a WebView API would significantly improve plugin development, as iframes have inherent limitations that restrict access to features required by more advanced plugins.

A similar approach is used by the webViewX plugin; but, its implementation is considerably more complex and relies on hacky workarounds due to the lack of a proper, first-class API.
